How much does it cost to join?

Can I bring guests?

Note: to better ensure compliance with public health directives and capacity restrictions, daily guests are not permitted in 2020.

Yes! $5 per person over the age of 3 any day of the week. There’s a limit of six visits for any one guest at these rates. However, a Season Guest Pass allows any single or family member to bring any guest as many times as they wish for an additional $275 a year (limit of one free guest per visit). It can be a different guest every time, or the same guest every time. Members must be present at the club with their guests at all times.   Guest children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult or a babysitter age 15 or older.

What about babysitters?

There is a charge of $40 for a babysitting card which allows babysitters (age 15 or older) to accompany members’ child(ren) without a guest fee – when the parent(s) are not also at the pool.

Can babies in diapers use the pool?

Yes, but they have to be swim diapers.

May I leave my children at the pool unattended?

Member children 12 years and older may be left unattended, while member children under age 12 must be watched by someone age 15 or older.  Guest children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult or a babysitter age 15 or older.

Is there food available at the swim club?

Note: our Snack Bar will not be open to start the 2020 season. An announcement will be made if and when the Snack Bar is opened.

Our Snack Bar serves sandwiches and other food items. Please refer to the club calendar for the snack bar hours.

Can I bring my own food and drink?

Yes! You are welcome to bring your own food and beverage to the Club. There are a number of picnic tables available for your use, most with a gas grill nearby.

How do I reserve a tennis court?

Book your court time with the attendant at the front desk. (60 min. limit please.)

What is “kids out” time?

For fifteen minutes every hour on the hour we have “Kids Out.” For rest and safety purposes, all kids leave the pool for fifteen minutes.

What are Thursday Adult Nights and Adult Party Nights?

Adult nights: On most Thursday nights, starting at 7pm until 11pm, the facilities close to all but adult pool members and their guests (21 years and older). There is no fee (except for guest fees). BYOB. Check the front desk for specific dates. Special adult parties have planned activities such as dinner and music (additional charges and sign-ups are collected during the weeks prior to the party). Check the pool calendar for specific dates.

Tennis

Overview

The club has two hard surface tennis courts that are available for use by members and their guests year round. Members must fill out a guest form at the front desk when bringing guests to play tennis. (regular guest fees apply).

Individual and Clinic instruction is available. Please contact the Tennis Pro at tennispro@clintonhills.com or Liz Keller.

Tennis will be up and running this Summer with a few changes and modifications due to state guidelines.

Sign up Process & Fees

The club pro, provides instructional clinics at the club for all age groups during June and July. Clinic fees can be paid online when registering.  Fees for tennis instruction are in addition to membership dues and cover all classes offered during June and July. Once you have paid your tennis clinic fees, the club administrator will email you a link to register for clinic sessions. Pre-registration is required for all clinics.

New Guidelines

  • We will limit the number of participants on the court. If there is an excess, we will setup a rotating schedule to accommodate.
  • There will be no community water container, so remember to bring your own water bottle.
  • Between each session, we will switch out balls and sanitize them and do a wipe down of any frequently touched area.
  • Benches by the tennis area are for one person only. No one is to sit at the table by the courts.
  • Parents/caregivers do not stay at the court. Please drop off your child and wait at your car.

Other Updates

Liz, April and Corinne are coming back. We are excited to offer weekend adult lessons and advanced teen lessons this year! Look for the opportunity for competitive play for all ages via GCTA throughout the Summer.

Start time has been modified to coordinate with swim practice end time.

  • Ages 11 & up – 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
  • Ages 9 & 10 – 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Ages 7 & 8 – 12:30 p.m. – 1:15 p.m.
  • Advanced Teen – 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  • Ages 5 & 6 – 1:15 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.

We have pickle ball rackets and balls to borrow at the front desk. Pickle ball is fun for the whole family; it’s like ping pong meets tennis. Here is a simple introduction video.

The 2020 Tennis Clinic Fee Schedule is:

Single Member $75 (plus tax) Covers clinic fees for a single members for the summer. The fee for Advanced Teen clinics is $100 (plus tax). Family Member $125 (plus tax) Covers clinic fees for all family members for the summer (must assign which member is covered at purchase).

Sets in the City is a new tennis program being offered at the historic Cincinnati Tennis Club in East Walnut Hills. Founded in 1880, CTC is among the ten oldest tennis clubs in the United States. This exciting opportunity is being provided to participants at no cost by the Greater Cincinnati Tennis Association (GCTA) with support from the United States Tennis Association’s (USTA) Midwest Division. Listed below are two separate clinic opportunities providing an option for all levels of experience and ability. The Beginner Instructional Clinic (Saturdays, 12:30-2pm, June 1 – July 6) is geared for players with limited or no experience and will teach you all the fundamentals of the game from strokes to strategy and will have you on your way to playing in no time. The High Intensity Clinic (Sundays, 12:30-2pm, June 2 – July 7) is cardio based, incorporating lots of ball feeding and fast-paced point and game play. This clinic is appropriate for players with at an Intermediate to Advanced Level. Players can expect to burn around 500 calories per hour! Don’t miss out on these awesome opportunities to get in the game! REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS:

2) Click on the orange “Select a date” button in the top right hand corner.

3) All dates are shown as a reminder, but tickets are distributed as an entire package. Click on any date and select the green “Register” button that appears next.

4) From there, select the type of clinic (Beginner vs High Intensity) you would like to attend. Registration automatically signs you up for all dates of your chosen clinic! Players may only register for Beginner or High Intensity, not both.

Tennis Coach

Head Pro – Liz Brown

Liz Brown is a CHSC member and former swim and tennis team member. She played tennis at Walnut Hills High School, and then in college at Baldwin Wallace University, where she completed her undergraduate studies in middle childhood education. She returned to Cincinnati and has been working with CHSC tennis program on and off throughout the last 10 years.

Youth Pro – April Cooper

April Cooper was a nationally ranked junior, who started playing tennis when she was 2. She went to the state championships in high school four times, finishing 2nd in doubles and 7th in singles. She played tennis in College on a full ride scholarship at the University of Toledo, where she received her undergraduate degree in education. After teaching in Arizona for two years, she received her master’s degree in art education from DAAP. She has been teaching art and tennis for over 20 years, and believes that all learning should be fun and that sports are one of the best ways to teach children how to have great character! She has been living in Cincinnati for 14 years with her husband and her three daughters, who are her favorite people to play tennis with.

Weekly Lessons

Start 1

  • Week 1 – Court area. Grips. Ball feel. Forehands / Backhands. Basic movement.
  • Week 2 – Forehands, Backhands. Different bounces and speeds of the ball. Rallying.
  • Week 3 – Volleys, overheads.
  • Week 4 – Serves. Rallying. Review of all basic strokes. Match components and scoring.

Start 2

Beginner level continued (advanced beginner). Or, players with some previous experience welcome to join.

  • Week 1 – Groundstrokes. Specific components. Introduction to topspin. Rallying.
  • Week 2 – Approach shots. Playing points at the net.
  • Week 3 – Placement of the ball. Rallying. Start points with serves.
  • Week 4 – Point play with serves, approach shots, introduction to doubles play.

Additional Class Options

Intermediate/Advanced Tennis Class (Levels 3.5 – 5.0)
Drills to practice technique and tactics. Rallying for consistency. Point Play situations and games for singles and doubles strategy. Intensity and running level is Medium to High in this class.

Advanced Beginner Class (levels 2.5-3.0)
Class for individuals who went through at least one session of beginner tennis and have learned the basics of strokes, movement and grips. The class will review grips and technique. Practice for different point situations and matches also covered.
*This class is a good option for those who are not quite experienced enough for the Intermediate/Advanced group but have already learned the basics in a beginner course. Also appropriate for people with experience who have not played in several years and need a refresher course.

Clinton Hills Junior Tennis Programs
Our junior programs are conducted with methods that adhere to USTA guidelines for children in tennis. Our tennis professional trains all assistant instructors on these methods, drills and activities to give your children the best tennis experience. Swim Team – The Dolphins

Overview

The swim team / camp / clinics at Clinton Hills is a great way for kids to be active, develop skills, and make friends. All club members, ages 6 to 18 are eligible to participate. The fun of summer club swimming can lead to year-round involvement in the sport, but for most, it’s just a positive, healthy way to spend the summer.

2020 Update

Changes for the 2020 Summer

Southern Ohio Swim League (SOSL) has cancelled the 2020 league due to circumstances beyond their control. However, exiting high school seniors will have the ability to return next summer to compete in their “senior year.”

CHSC Dolphins 2020 Swim Camp!

  • 4-week camp focusing on everything from basic skills to advanced techniques (with a whole lot of fun mixed in) to improve your swimmer’s abilities (days will be split age group)
  • All coaches will be onsite, with a limited amount of volunteers, to instruct your swimmers to be their very best
  • Fun activities, lessons, and competitions throughout the camp
  • The camp will end with a fun event for campers on Friday, July 3rd that will have a Fourth of July themed competition!
  • Dates: June 8th – July 3rd
  • Times: 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
  • Cost: $60/swimmer
  • Please ensure your swimmer can swim on their own without floating devices for this camp
  • Due to Club regulations, this camp will be drop-off only

Technique Clinics (Click here to Register)

  • Three-week cycle of daily, 45-minute specific clinics will begin after camp.
  • Each day will focus on a new skill
  • Each day will have an early session for older swimmers and a later clinic for our younger swimmers
  • Clinics will be limited to 10 participants per age group for more focused work
  • Dates: July 6th – July 24th
  • Times: 8:00am – 9:00am (11 and up) and 9:30am – 10:30am (10 and under)
  • Cost: $5/swimmer per session
  • Limited to 4 clinics per swimmer in order to get more participants into the clinics.

Head Coach

Scott Fortier

Scott Fortier will be starting his first season as the Head Coach at Clinton Hills. A native of Tallahassee, Florida, Scott swam in college at the University of Alabama before spending two years at Louisiana State University as a Volunteer Assistant and running the High School development group for Tiger Aquatics. Scott moved to Cincinnati in July 2019 and is a current Assistant Coach for the University of Cincinnati. Scott loves swimming and having fun while doing it! He hopes to bring his positive energy to the swimmers!

Assistant Swim Coach

Grace Sublett

Grace Sublett will continue at Clinton Hills this year as an assistant swim team coach.  Grace has been competitively swimming for eleven years and is currently finishing her sixth and final season with the Mercy Healthplex Sea Wolves.  She has been part of the SOSL program for twelve years, she swam for the Coney Island Aquanauts for ten years before switching to Clinton Hills last summer.  Grace is very excited to be able to join the CHSC coaching staff and can’t wait to see what this summer brings.

Assistant Swim Coach

Esme Wright

Esme is starting her second season coaching for the dolphins. She has also been a member of the team since she was 6. Esme is currently swims club for the Mercy Healthplex Seawolves. She is a recent graduate of Walnut Hills High School and will be attending and swimming for Denison University this fall.

All About Meets (CANCELED FOR 2020)

Our team is part of the Southern Ohio Swim League (SOSL). We compete in the “A” division with Milford, Mariemont, Coney, and Phillips. Meets are held on either “at home” or “away” on Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings, and they usually last about four hours.

All club members, ages 6 to 18 are eligible to participate on the swim team.

Family Membership

  • A family is considered two married spouses or their equivalent (a couple living in what they consider a durable relationship) and their children.
  • A single parent and that parent’s children also constitute a family membership.
  • A family membership can include a member’s own parents and grandparents, BUT only if those parents or grandparents live full time in the member’s home.
  • Grandchildren of a member do not qualify under the member’s family membership UNLESS the grandparent has sole custody of the grandchildren and they live full time in the member’s household without the children’s parent(s) present.
  • Young adult children living at home and not in school may remain on a family membership through age 21; after such time, establishment of a separate membership with initiation fee is required. Full-time dependent students may remain on their parents’ family membership through age 24.
  • Married children of a member and any of their children constitute a separate family even if they do live in the same household with a present member.
  • Exchange students are included on your Family Membership at no additional charge; please email the membership chair with their information and length of stay.
