The swim team at Clinton Hills is a great way for kids to be active, develop skills, and make friends. All club members, ages 6 to 18 are eligible to participate. The fun of summer club swimming can lead to year-round involvement in the sport, but for most, it’s just a positive, healthy way to spend the summer.

Swim Team practice begins on May 29ages 11 and up, 8:00 to 9:30am; ages 10 and under 9:30 to 10:30am. To build skill and endurance, please attend as many practices as possible!

Please Note: Most team communication is conducted by email. If you would like more information or have questions, contact Datha Harrison, the team coordinator, at dolphins@clintonhills.com.

Parental Responsibility & Volunteer Information

For both home and away meets, team parents fill many important jobs that make the meet happen (for more details about meet volunteer jobs, see the link to the swim team handbook under Information and Forms).

  • Shifts: Each family is asked to work AT LEAST 3 shifts during the regular season and one shift during championships.
  • Supervise: This is very important, parents are expected to supervise their children at all meets. The clerk of course, volunteers, and parent helpers assist the 8 and under swimmer to the start of their events, but neither they nor the coaches are babysitters.  Please help to make sure your swimmer is ready to swim.
  • Social Events: Parents are asked to lead team social events like the opening potluck, overnight, bowling outing and banquet.

SignupGenius.com is used to streamline the process. Volunteer information is also provided at the suit-up event in May 20th.

All About Meets

Our team is part of the Southern Ohio Swim League (SOSL). We compete in the “A” division with Milford, Mariemont, Coney, and Phillips. Meets are held on either “at home” or “away” on Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings, and they usually last about four hours.

Home Meets!

Clinton Hills hosts several home meets each year:

Home Meet Schedule:

5:15 pm: Clinton Hills swimmers arrive.
5:30 pm: Swimmer warm-ups; parents signed up to work check-in with the volunteer coordinator.
6:30 pm: Meet begins.

The Meet Lineup:
Is posted on the wall between the restrooms, so you and your child(ren) copy down the events they are swimming. For quick reference, many people write the event, heat and lane numbers on swimmer’s arm using a Sharpie marker. Heat sheets listing all meet entries are also available for sale.

Swim Meet Concessions:
Each family is asked to provide a baked good or other snacks (can be store-bought) for sale at the concessions. Suggestions are cupcakes, brownies, Rice Krispie treats, or individual portions of cut fruit or pasta salad.

The “After-Party”:
When the meet is over, Clinton Hills swimmers are served hot dogs and chips at the concession stand.

Away Meets!

Clinton Hills Swim Team also travels to a number of Away Swim Meets each season.

Away Meet Schedule:

5:45 pm: Clinton Hills swimmers arrive and find Clinton Hills “team area.”
6:00 pm: Clinton Hills swimmer warm-ups; parents signed up to work check-in with the volunteer coordinator.
6:30 pm: Meet begins.

The Meet Lineup:

The “After-Party”:
When the meet is over, Clinton Hills swimmers are invited to gather at a restaurant like LaRosa’s or Skyline. A parent volunteer calls ahead to let the restaurant know and may collect money to place an advance order from families who choose to participate.
