Welcome back for summer number 63 at CHSC! 

The countdown has begun, less than 3 months until the gate at 53 Clinton Springs Ave is unlocked. The board has been hard at work planning for another great season. We expect another year of operating at full capacity (actually increased capacity) and our waitlist remains over 100.

As many of you are aware, the cost to operate pools (any pool, not just CHSC) has skyrocketed with costs increasing by 20% for 2023 and previously 30% for 2022. This was discussed at length at the annual meeting in September.

We have been able to mostly combat this by increasing 2023 dues & initiation fees AND a small reduction of hours of operation. The reduction of hours helped limit the impact by 5% (net 15% increase for 2023). The specifics around hours of operation have been painstakingly evaluated for the past 6 months via pool utilization analysis, comparison of other clubs operating hours, annual meeting feedback, the Hours Survey from November, board debate, and discussions with SwimSafe (CHSC pool operator).

There was no perfect answer, but in order to reduce operating cost by 5%, the changes for 2023 can be summarized as:

  • Pool will open at 11:00 a.m. daily to membership

  • Last day of the season is Labor Day

  • Snack bar opens at 11:30 a.m.

The entire CHSC board and I remain committed to the longevity of our club, and we believe this step was necessary to ensure CHSC is here for decades to come. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility.

We welcome feedback and will continue optimizing hours and costs moving forward. Additionally, there will be several Board seats open at the end of this season, please contact me to learn more.

Membership dues & deadlines

Reminders

  • The membership approved an increase in dues, effective this season
  • All member renewals are ready to be paid- simply log into your account
  • All past due balances must be paid at the time of membership renewal payment.
  • Be sure to update your member account such as adding pictures for everyone in your family which makes check-in more efficient.

Deadlines

  • April 1: Membership renewal payments due
  • April 2 – May 1: $50 late fee incurred
  • After May 1: Membership forfeited, members placed at the end of the waitlist

Swim Team

Hello Dolphin Swim Parents!  As the summer season approaches, the Southern Ohio Swim League (SOSL) board is piecing together the details for another fun and exciting year. As soon as the schedule is produced, we’ll post it to our website! Expect 5-6 meets with Championships again this year!

We welcome back Scott Fortier for his fourth year as Head Coach for the Dolphins. As we work with Scott to narrow down candidates for the assistant coaching positions, we’ll keep you posted through the Swim Team’s site: https://clintonhills.com/activities/swim-team/

As the CHSC Swim Team representative, I’m always open to feedback and suggestions of what worked and what could be improved based on past years. If you or your swimmer have any feedback, please email dolphins@clintonhills.com.

We’ll soon set the date for our Suit Up Event and the Meet the Coaches event. New swim parents, these events will give your families tips for swim meet survival. You do NOT want to miss the Suit Up Event as we will have experts on site to ensure your swimmers get fit properly for the season. During these events, we will also be having volunteer sign-ups for the meets… parent volunteers are a crucial part of maintaining a successful program.

Tennis

Welcome back to CHSC Tennis! Liz Brown and April Cooper will continue to run the summer programs. We will have a similar schedule to last season, but be on the look out for updates on the website shortly. We can’t wait to see you on the courts!

Kids Swim Lessons

Swim lessons are offered free of charge to all member children between the ages of 9 months and 12 years. Our intention is to offer classes at all levels this year (1-5).

SwimSafe is hiring

Our pool management company, SwimSafe, is hiring life guards, front desk staff, and concession staff for Summer 2023. SwimSafe is offering FREE lifeguard training and uniforms! Applicants must be at least 15 years old. Apply online at swimsafepool.com.

2022 CHSC Annual Meeting Outcome

Annual Meeting Update

Hello members of CHSC,

The Annual meeting for CHSC was held this morning.  The full presentation and ballot are available for download from the following links:

As previously discussed the club is faced with making some tough decisions to combat rising costs.  Appreciate to all those that were in attendance to discuss the options and to understand the situation that the club faces in 2023 and beyond.
The following proposals were adopted at the meeting today.

Dues:
Increase Membership to 340 Family Equivalents

Increase Dues to Family $850/Single $430 + tax

Reduce Pool Operating hours by up to 100* hours

*The specifics of the 100 hours will be discussed over the offseason.

 

Initiation Fees

For all new waitlist applicants and memberships submitted after 9/11/2022.  Will not impact existing waitlist.​​

Family Initiation Fee: $625 + tax, spread out over 3 years.​
• Year 1: $125 + tax in addition to Membership dues​
• Year 2: $250 + tax in addition to Membership dues​
• Year 3: $250 + tax in addition to Membership dues​
​

Single Initiation Fee: $375 + tax, spread out over 3 years.​
• Year 1: $75 + tax in addition to Membership dues​
• Year 2: $150 + tax in addition to Membership dues​
• Year 3: $150 + tax in addition to Membership dues​

It’s finally opening weekend!!!

Clinton Hills Swim Club is excited to welcome new and returning members as the pool opens this weekend!!!

The CHSC Board wants to pass along a few reminders, information and FAQs for Pool Season..

Hours of Operation

Please check the calendar on the website for official hours of the club. Please note that hours will vary by day of the week and throughout the season for things like swim meets, Thursday adult nights, and other activities.  You can always check ahead here.

Deck Reservations

We have launched a new deck reservation system.  It’s tied to you member account, so you will have to login in to schedule a space.  Please check out the new deck reservation page for details on how to make a deck reservation and associated rules.

Before your first visit…Review and update your account

Whether new or existing members, please login to your CHSC account at https://clintonhills.com/membership-information/manage-account/#/top and under account details add pictures to all members.  A picture will be required to enter the pool.  And creating that perfect selfie while you are trying to check in is harder than you think.

Add a guest credit

In order to bring a guest to the pool, you need to purchase guest credits ahead of time via you membership account on the website at https://clintonhills.com/membership-information/payments/.  Guest passes are $5 per guest and good for one visit.  They also roll over from year to year.  Staff checking in your guests will not be able to accept cash or send an invoice

Club Rules Refresher

Check out the club rules at https://clintonhills.com/about-us/rules/.  Not a lot has changed over the years, but it’s always good to refer back to them.

Parking

On a busy day parking can get tight.  We don’t mind you getting a little creative, but please avoid parking on the grass by the hillside.  We are optimistic the hillside movement is under control at this point…let’s not change that.

Communication Throughout the Season

Look for emails from the club, post on the website, and of course join our facebook and instagram pages.

If you have questions throughout the season we always recommend using the contact us page to reach out.  Otherwise requests tend to get lost in spam folders

As a reminder we are all dealing with this pandemic a little differently, please be respectful of your fellow pool members. Consider social distancing and masking as you are moving about the club, in lines, or in the restrooms.

The pool will be crowded initially, but will taper off as the summer goes on.  Please be patient with each other and all the new staff.

2021 Swim Team Update

Welcome Swimmers and Swimmer Families to the 2021 CHSC Dolphins Season!

The Southern Ohio Swim League (SOSL) is a go!   The league has met and decided on 6 dual meets with no championships this year.  The meets will be held on Tuesday evening starting June 15th.  The league schedule will be released shortly!  Not to fret (and not to give anything away) but we have a special event in store in lieu of championships.

Now onto the logistical part of the team…lot of info coming your way!

  • Please fill out the registration form here and bring with you to the club during this time.  We will have limited availability of forms day of.
    • Cost per swimmer will be $55 and include a CHSC Swim Cap with sign-up
  • Order forms for swimsuits are available here and will be made available thru our partnership with Swimville USA.  As noted, if your order is received prior to Monday, May 24th, you will receive FREE shipping.

This year we will once again be lead by head coach Scott Fortier with Assistance Coaches Esme Wright and Grace Sublett!  We are very excited to have all our coaches rejoining the Dolphins for the 2021 Season!

Great news from the Southern Ohio Swim League (SOSL) 2021 kick-off meeting on April 21, 2021…SOSL is a GO for the 2021 season!

We will have 6 meets with no Championships this year.  Meets to begin on June 15th and end on July 13th.

More details coming soon for sign-up, uniform pickup, and practice schedule.

2020 Season Update

Dear Clinton Hills Members,

We are excited to announce our opening day:  Monday June 1st, 2020.

As previously shared, Clinton Hills will be utilizing a 100% reservation system, with timed entry and exit.  Together with our pool management company SwimSafe, the Board has adopted the below policies for the 2020 season.

Please be sure to take the time to review the below policies prior to your first visit to the club this summer.  Advanced reservations will be made via your clintonhills.com member account.  The reservation system is currently undergoing testing and an email will be sent to the membership when the system is live.

It is important to note that we anticipate adjusting these policies throughout the summer, if necessary, once data and experience is gained.  Please share your pool visit feedback with us via our website.

REMINDER: Please also login to your member account and update your photo and contact information.  All members must have a photo uploaded to your account prior to visiting the pool.

Swim Team update Feb 2020

Dear Clinton Hills Family,
Thank you to everyone who gave feedback about the possibility of our team moving to PPSL swim league. With much consideration, we have decided to stay with SOSL(Southern Ohio Swim League).
Here are the reasons we decided to stay with SOSL:
  • Additional research is needed to address the feasibility of having a diving team.
  • The lesser amount of competitive swim opportunity.
  • The separated championships.
The Summer sports committee along with the CHSC board have agreed to postpone the move to PPSL. This may be revisited at the end of the summer swim season to allow more input from swim team families.
The Summer Sports Committee is made up of three CHSC board members:

One thing we saw in the responses is a chance to swim with our friends at Clifton Meadows. We will reach to them and plan to organize an exhibition meet at the beginning the season.

CHSC 2019 ANNUAL MEETING

Dear Clinton Hills Swim Club Member,

We wanted to provide an update on the CHSC Annual Meeting, scheduled for Thursday August 29th at 6:30 PM.  We have moved the meeting location to the North Avondale Recreation Center Gymnasium due to the size of the crowd we expect.  The address is 617 Clinton Springs Avenue, right up the road from the swim club.

As you know, we will be discussing the future of Clinton Hills Swim Club and the potential Master Plan at this Annual Meeting, as well as voting on a path forward.

Please feel free to bring snacks and clear beverages to enjoy.  The Rec Center does not allow colored beverages due to the possibility of staining their gymnasium floor.

Each membership receives 1 vote, per our bylaws, so feel free to send a family representative.

You can RSVP to the Facebook event if you are on Facebook.  We will also send 2-3 reminders to members via email due to the importance of this meeting.  Signs will also be hung at the club.

We received a lot of helpful feedback via our survey in July (thank you!), and will be providing an informational package, including a Q&A section, in advance of the Annual Meeting to help answer common questions.
